What Is Our Outreach?
Because He cares, we also care.IN THE COMMUNITY
AMOS
AMOS is a faith-based coalition of congregations committed to living out their faith by negotiating the interests of the people of our Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky regions, with a special concern for the issues of low and moderate income people. AMOS affirms the value and dignity of every human life and addresses critical systemic problems at their root causes. Ascension's AMOS core team meets monthly and participates in many of the activities. The organization takes its name from the Hebrew Scripture prophet Amos.
Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an overflowing stream. Amos 5:24
NEEDS (Northeast Emergency Distribution Service)
NEEDS is a cooperative group of concerned community churches and civic organizations. Its mission is to do God's work of caring for our neighbors by providing basic emergency assistance. In addition to providing food items, NEEDS also assists with emergency housing and utility needs, and has seasonal programs for supplying school materials, mittens and holiday gifts.
Ascension has been involved with NEEDS from nearly the time of the organization inception nearly 23 years. We have an ongoing donation program and also provide volunteer service.
Thrivent Builds/Habitat for Humanity
Ascension has joined forces with other churches in the area to build homes for families through the Habitat for Humanity program. Thrivent provides 90% of the money necessary for the construction, and Ascension and other churches in the area provide the remaining 10% as well as the man hours needed to complete the construction.
