How Do We Live Our Faith?

Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry at Ascension is a first priority as we seek to teach, encourage, and mentor our youth as they begin their journey with Christ. Our Sunday School program begins with children age 3 and continues through the high school years. Special programs throughout the year such as Vacation Bible School, Palm Saturday Workshop, and the Children's Christmas Program enrich our program and place special emphasis on the various seasons of the church calendar. Children in grades 2-3 are prepared to receive the Lord's Supper during the 4-5 weeks of Lent in special classes which meet during the Lenten service. Children in grades 7-8 are a part of the two year Confirmation program which involves Sunday morning Bible studies and classes, quarterly retreats, service projects, and fellowship events.

OneHeart Prayer Ministry
OneHeart is a prayer and encouragement ministry strengthening our prayer life. This team provides a space for prayers of intercession responding to the needs of our congregation. The group meets every other Tuesday to pray, write cards of encouragement, and plan for our yearly 24-hour prayer vigil.

Pastoral Care Team
The Pastoral Care Team seeks to serve those in our congregation who are shut-in, ill, or with special needs, through regular visits and communication. The team meets monthly to reflect on their visits and to develop the pastoral care skills of the members.

Adult Forum
The Adult Forum meets every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. (before 10:00 a.m. worship). Adult bible studies and various topics that encourage spiritual growth provide the focus each Sunday.

Lenten Services
Beginning Ash Wednesday and continuing through Holy Week, services of Bible study and worship are held in the sanctuary. These services seek to focus on this time for repentance, meditation, and renewal as we seek to draw closer to our Lord and the gift of his Son in our daily walk with Him.

Prayer Vigil
Each year (or whenever there is a special need) the congregation participates in a 12 or 24 hour prayer vigil. As a congregation we believe that "prayer changes things". We are confident that God hears our every prayer and will respond. During a prayer vigil we focus on one particular concern in our congregation or community as members come to the sanctuary to pray and meditate continually throughout the 12 (or 24) hour period.

Weavings
Weavings is a spiritual formation group that meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The meetings revolve around the themes featured in the bimonthly journal, "Weavings," which focus on our spiritual life, themes such as forgiveness, stillness, envy, or prayer.
