Christian Education at Ascension
ADULT FORUM at 9:00 a.m. in the Social HallGOOD GOD QUESTIONS: Why does God allow suffering? Do Jews, Muslims, and Christians worship the same God? How do I know God's will for my life? If I am forgiven, why will I be judged? Have you ever asked these questions? Did you get the answer you needed? Come join us in the Adult Forum series beginning September 21, as we explore together these topics that have tormented Christians through the ages and continue today. Steve Roschke will be our group moderator.
CHILDRENS' SUNDAY SCHOOL
We will be introducing a new curriculum this fall that follows the weekly Lutheran lectionary. All age levels will explore at least one common Bible reading each week, making it possible for family members to discuss their thoughts and discoveries together at home. Immersion in a lectionay-based curriculum joins us with Christian believers around the globe as our larger Christian family gathers to hear the same stories and to proclaim the same truths. We will offer a combined Pre-K, Kindergarten and First Grade class for ages 3-6 years, a Young Elementary class for ages 7-8 years, an Intermediate Elementary class for ages 9-11 years, and Confirmation class for ages 12-13 year. Sunday School will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with singing and prayer.
BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS: Please encourage your children (Pre-K through junior high) to bring their backpacks to church on September 21 for a "Blessing of the Backpacks". At this time we will take a few moments during the Children's Message time to pray for our children as they begin another school year and seek to remind them of the presence of their heavenly Father as they travel to school each day.
