Worship at Ascension
Our worship centers on proclaiming the Word and celebrating Holy Communion.
Worship at Ascension invites all people of all ages to fully participate in the worship experience. The hymns, choir anthem, sermon, and prayers invite the worshiper to reflect on the message in the Gospel reading. Additional scripture readings add further depth to our meditation on the living Word.
We celebrate Holy Communion at each worship service since it has been a central element in the Christian tradition's worship since Jesus' initiation of this meal with His disciples. Our communion is open to all who are baptized and who desire to share in this meal.
Various celebrations of the church year such as Christmas, Easter and Pentecost reflect the ancient history of the Lutheran Church. Various seasons of the church year such as Advent, Epiphany, Lent and Easter bring colors and banners which add to the richness of the season.
Music is a significant part of our worship from old and new hymns from around the world to different musical settings for the worship service. Our chancel choir, bell choir, vocals and instrumentals, children's music, and dramas each add depth and feeling to our worship.
The worship service and responses are printed in a bulletin to aid our guests in entering more fully into the worship experience.
