Health Kits

The Wheel of Friendship is collecting Health Kits for Lutheran World Relief. There are sheets with instructions on the Wheel of Friendship shelf in the coat room. Please place the kits in the basket by our shelf. Our goal is to collect 100 kits!

Mission Statement Forum

If you haven’t yet had the chance to discuss our new draft mission statement, please sign up on the bulletin board to attend one of the two forums to be held on Sunday, August 1 and Sunday, August 8. Both will be at 9:00 a.m. in the social hall. Our draft mission statement is, “To receive and share Jesus’ love” and would replace our current mission statement. This will be an opportunity to learn about the process that brought us to our new draft mission statement and ask questions. After the congregation has had the opportunity for discussion we will begin a visioning process to discern a vision for the future of Ascension.

Wheel of Friendship

The Wheel of Friendship will be collecting coupons for cleaning supplies and diapers. Please place the coupons in the basket on the Wheel of Friendship shelf in the coat room.

Custodial Work Groups

The members of Ascension have been cleaning for three months now. You don't realize how much carpeting our church has until you have to vacuum it!!! Our cleaning schedule is looking good through the end of July. We have a few open slots in August and September but October through December are wide open. So we are still in need of volunteers. With our current budget situation, the need for volunteers is as urgent now as it was in March when we started our initiative. Please speak with Judi or Gary Lang if you would like to sign up.

Morning Blend

On every third Sunday this summer, we will have “Morning Blend” worship, which combines contemporary and traditional elements. For the worship service on Sunday, July 18, the service will be based on Colossians 1:27. On August 15, our worship will be centered on God’s covenant with us in baptism.

Ascension Recycling Program

Just like aluminum cans and glass bottles, most batteries can go in the trash can but it’s not the best stewardship of the earth to put them there. June was our first month for the Ascension battery recycling program and we recycled just over 5lbs of batteries. Hurray! That's 5 pounds of batteries that did not go to the landfill but instead went to an EPA approved battery recycling center. Thanks for supporting our battery recycling program. We ask that you put a small piece of tape over the battery ends before you drop them in the box.
