What Do We Believe?

We see ourselves as part of the reforming movement in the larger Christian church.

Like Jesus, who saw himself and his followers as reformers in the Jewish religion and in the culture of his time, we see ourselves as a reforming movement in the whole Christian church, in the life of our culture and in our community. Always seeking to be grounded in God's living presence and working for justice for all, we actively engage in exploring the living Word of Holy Scripture and in seeking to be an inclusive community of the faithful. Where division and misunderstanding occur we would hope to encourage the search for common ground.

We see ourselves as an evangelical teaching movement within the universal church.

By Evangelical we mean that we share the "Good News" of God's unconditional grace in Christ Jesus as the center of the Christian Faith. We joyfully proclaim the good news that God comes in flesh and says YES to all humanity. God did not become flesh to condemn humanity but to restore us to the unity we all share in God's love. That's the good news we proclaim and why healing our divisions is central to our life and mission.

We gather together as the faithful to worship to learn and to enjoy fellowship. We gather for support and to encourage one another in our service in the world.

Truth, for us, is found in ongoing conversations where those who gather can trust to share openly about the things that matter to them and where they find that honest sharing is welcomed and taken to heart. Hopefully our worship, our learning and our service continue to embody this open and welcoming Spirit.
