Worship in Lent

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 22. Join us for worship at 7pm on Ash Wednesday and every Wednesday following throughout Lent. On alternating Wednesdays (February 29, March 14, and March 28), a light soup supper will be offered at 6:15pm, prior to worship. All are welcome.

At our Ash Wednesday worship service, the imposition of ashes will be offered. The pastor will make the sign of the cross on the foreheads of worshippers with ashes, accompanied by the words, “Remember you are dust and to dust you shall return.” This solemn rite ushers in the penitent and reflective season of Lent.

On all Wednesdays during Lent following Ash Wednesday, we will use “Holden Evening Prayer.” This musical worship setting, written for the Holden Village retreat center in Washington state, is moving in its beauty and simplicity. Except on Ash Wednesday, worship concludes by 7:30 pm.
